Most modern valve trumpet (piston) is made of alloy steel, monel or nickel and copper (especially, with a small amount of iron, manganese, silicon and carbon 1 or stainless steel (316 stainless steel is usually made up of chromium and nickel with a few percent molybdenum, manganese and traces of carbon, Silicon, nickel and phosphorus) 2. These materials are known for their resistance to prevent corrosion and rust. 316 stainless steel is highly resistant to pitting and corrosion.

Although the modern valves are made from sturdy and able to withstand corrosion, they can remain stained with the filth in our breath (especially calcium and other mineral deposits), food particles, bacteria and residue oil valve.

Valves for very small spaces contamination embroidery between piston and housing closed, often less than 0.001 inch (0.02 mm) caused by stains or other impurities. Really bad dirt and stain on this picture you can see. This valve will surely remain and will require dry cleaning can be put back in order.
